Employment, Entrepreneurship and Income

A) SEARCH FOR EMPLOYMENT

In Brazil, when seeking for a job, you must look for vacancies directly in the companies. This involves submitting a Curriculum Vitae and applying for the desired positions. It's essential to consider whether the applicant possesses the required skills and professional expertise to fulfill the tasks necessary for the job.

However, to immigrants/refugees, it is suggested to register and leave their resumé in places that centralize the demand and supply of job vacancies. It is called National Employment System, known as SINE.

Registration can be done through internet. But the text on the site and in the curriculum must be written in Portuguese, so seeking assistance from those proficient in the language is recommended. If desired, visiting a SINE office is also recommended.

There, in addition to registering, you can already check which job vacancies are open and in which you are interested in applying.

The main office of SINE, in João Pessoa, is located near Shopping Terceirão, in the city center, at Street Duque de Caxias, n. 305, Center, João Pessoa/PB. Contact: (83) 3218-6600.

There are also other service stations in practically all “Casas da Cidadania”, which are present in many parts of João Pessoa and in almost all other big cities in Paraíba.

Another recommendation is to subscribe in the “Work with us” tab, directly on the website of the companies in João Pessoa and neighboring cities.

B) BEING SELF-EMPLOYED, ARTISAN AND MICRO-ENTREPRENEUR

If you intend to sell your own products, work as a freelancer, engage in crafts, or offer various services while safeguarding your rights, it's advisable to consider a few options for ensuring your financial security. One approach is to contribute to the public pension system, known as (INSS - National Institute of Social Security), as a self-employed individual. This involves making monthly payments, which in turn grants you access to certain benefits such as retirement plans and assistance during periods of illness. Alternatively, you can opt to register as a MEI (Microempreendedor Individual), a legal status that enables you to function as an individual micro-entrepreneur. This entails making regular monthly payments as well, but it offers additional advantages. By choosing this route, you're not only securing your future rights like retirement and medical support, but you're also operating within the legal framework of a registered business entity.
